Care
To care. A simple routine, few gestures. Rice bran, green tea and camellia: what Japanese tradition already knew about caring for skin with time, not against it.
About Makoto
Makoto means sincerity. We do not sell Japanese products, we translate a way of being in the world.
We live too fast to feel what we are living.
Our story
Makoto was born to translate another way: one where caring for your skin, pouring a glass or holding an object become small rituals of presence.
We do not bring from Japan what can be bought. We bring a way of being in the world.
It began with a simple question. What if caring, contemplating and celebrating were not pauses in life, but life itself?
From Japanese tradition we bring objects for the ordinary day, from rice bran on the skin to sake poured slowly. Each piece is chosen for what it invites, not for how it appears.
Three gestures
To care. A simple routine, few gestures. Rice bran, green tea and camellia: what Japanese tradition already knew about caring for skin with time, not against it.
To contemplate. Ceramic that carries weight in the hand, incense, light and silence. Everyday pieces that turn the ordinary into ritual, and invite the house to lower its volume.
To celebrate. Sake poured slowly, the sacred drink of rice. The toast, the moment shared: the pause that turns an ordinary dinner into a small rite.
We translate a way of being in the world.
